Its crazy to read that the women in this country lived in a time when they had to bow to the command to every man in their life. I am researching the country Brazil and there are some similarities in the gender roles with the women having to be in charge of the house hold. Its good that they are now seeing the importance of women and hopefully women will be seen as equals in the workplace and at home.

As I've been reading thruogh other reports on gender roles, most of them include a period of liberation and great strides towards equality.Yours, sadly, does not include that period-yet. I agree that these changes need to begin in the home. It's one thing to bow or show respect for your elders or other people, but its another thing entirely to have to bow and submit in that way to your male family members. That kind of situation is just asking for injustices and inequality. Family is a sign of unity, a team; and a team is equal in every aspect, where every person contributes to the common good. Hopefully these situations change and women can stand eye to eye with their families.
