It is important that the government help protect the cultural diversity because as people migrate to other places it is important that they accept the culture of their new home while still being able to share their own culture. The government can determine the line of assimilation and acculturation. In one case the immigrant loses their heritage and conforms to their new identity as a citizen of their new home. In the other case the immigrant embraces the new culture of their new home as a citizen while holding onto their former culture. With acculturation people are able to spread the culture and create diversity which is extremely important. If this suffers than the land around it will suffer as well.
It is equally important for the government to protect biodiversity. Culture is shaped by the world around us. In Australia nature is valued above all else. In the United States culture in the Midwest is tied to farms, and on the Pacific Coast it is tied to the ocean, and in other places across the country it is tied to other various land forms. So the natural landscapes must be protected to protect biodiversity and in hand cultural diversity. Culture is also about different people coming together. That is also a part of biodiversity. Things like Indian Reservations must be protected. You cannot protect one without the other.
In many cases people would argue that the government should not have this power. If they have to power to protect the cultural diversity than they have the power to take it away. But it can be seen that if you take away the cultural diversity than you lose the biodiversity and vice versa. Also, many believe that funding can be better used somewhere else. However, if we do not protect our culture and our biodiversity than we will not have anything else to fight for. Culture and nature are the foundations of life. Education even comes from culture. Without these things we would be lost.
